A new report claims that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first iPhones to use Samsung’s M14 OLED display panels, which improves brightness while extending longevity.
Previous rumors regarding the screens on the iPhone 16 Pro have included some claims about brightness. For instance, one in September 2023 said Apple would use a Micro Lens Array, which reflects more OLED light forward.
Now according to South Korea’s ETNews, the two Pro models in the iPhone 16 range will use Samsung’s latest displays. Known as M14 screens, they are OLED models that use 14 unspecified high-performance materials.
There are no specifics in this latest report about how much brighter the displays will be. However, a separate leak in May 2024 claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro would get a boost to 1,200 nits, from the 1,000 nits of the iPhone 15 Pro.
Separately, previous rumors regarding the display for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have said that they will be larger than their equivalents in the iPhone 15 range. It’s claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro’s screen will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max display will go from 6.69 inches to 6.9 inches.
